Procurement update: Introduction of a travel management supplier

Over the next six to nine months the University will be introducing a travel management supplier (otherwise known as a TMC?— Travel Management Company) into its supply chain to manage various aspects of the University’s travel expenditure? including air? rail and BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载. The TMC will improve the efficiency? cost–effectiveness and environmental impact of our travel expenditure. The initiative will deliver in depth management information that will allow the University to fulfil its Duty of Care obligations to its staff and students. It could also save the University more than ?400?000 per year in travel costs by utilising HEI and academic negotiated route deals? negotiated University route deals and University travel membership points and air miles.

The Procurement office has partnered with two Travel Management Companies, Ian Allan Travel and Key Travel, to deliver the service in an initial 3-4 month trial with various Schools and Professional Service departments. There after, it is planned to roll out the service to the rest of the University.

You will receive more details when the service is introduced into your area. All staff will have access to training and support on the travel management service.

Registrar and Chief Operating Officer? comments: “It is of paramount importance that the University fulfils its Duty of Care obligations to its staff and students when travelling on University business. In the event of a disaster anywhere in the world, by having access to real time information regarding the location of our staff and students we can contact any affected personnel and repatriate quickly. Also, centralising the travel spend will deliver much needed visibility to the holistic cost of our travel expenditure.”
