One aspect of this diversity is the range of languages that can be heard every day across the city – in its streets, schools, shops, restaurants, and workplaces.During the Study Day we will explore this multilingualism, from an examination of the historical context to listening to the voices of the present day. Speakers will highlight the richness of this linguistic diversity: how it is valued (or ignored) in everyday city life; who speaks what to whom; the role of language in BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载’s cultural activities; the city’s linguistic landscape; and how this multilingualism contributes to BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载’s identity.
