Students in the Institute of Sound and Vibration Research?and the Electronics and Computer Science department are conducting a study into the music listening habits of android smartphone users. The study has been designed to explore the relationship between listening habits and hearing problems. You can help by installing the BTA Loudness Study App and taking part in the lab study.

You’ll be entered into a ?50 prize draw for using the app, and will be paid ?15 if you take part in the laboratory study.

The app is designed to explore the ways in which people listen to and interact with music through their smartphone devices. It also looks into the duration and intensity of music listening. Once installed onto your device, the app will run in the background for four weeks, asking you a few daily questions in the final week of the study. After the four weeks, the app will automatically deactivate and can be uninstalled.
