Last month the University attracted media coverage relating to a legal case involving a former member of staff.

The University was not present to give its evidence at an Employment Tribunal, and as a result the claims against the University were upheld and a very substantial payment was ordered.

The University immediately launched legal action to get the judgment overturned, and yesterday the same court accepted the University’s evidence and arguments and set aside the original ruling, and the original payment awarded. A new date for the formal tribunal to proceed, with all parties’ evidence to be heard, will now be set.

The University is pleased with the outcome of the hearing and is grateful to the court for granting a further opportunity to present our substantial evidence in this case.
