Founded in 1998, Refugee Week (20-26 June) is a UK-wide festival celebrated annually. This year’s theme is Healing – encouraging us to come together to celebrate care and community and new beginnings. From attending events to finding out about our application to become a University of Sanctuary, here are some ways you can get involved to mark the week.??

  Professor Kushner, in partnership with October Books, will host Migrant BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 – a free walking tour of the city, covering many migrant historical points from medieval ages to post Second World War.

Support for those hosting refugees and sanctuary seekers?
BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 Widening Participation and Social Mobility Team have been developing refugee welcome packs for primary aged school children to help children and their families settle into life in BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载. The University also has support and resources in place for those hosting refugees.?

Becoming a University of Sanctuary ?
We have embarked on an initiative to become a University of Sanctuary – with plans to submit our application?this autumn. Universities of Sanctuary is an international network committed to making Higher Education institutions a place of solidarity and safety for those seeking sanctuary.?

As part of this scheme, we will launch two annual scholarships for those in receipt of asylum support, provide further support for our colleagues and students, as well as champion the importance of welcome and inclusivity. We will work closely with local and international partners to help achieve these aims. ?
