Better with age: Re:action magazine Spring 2025 out now

The latest issue of Re:action magazine – the University’s research and enterprise publication – celebrates BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载’s long-standing excellence in research on ageing. BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 ageing population has implications for everything from the labour force to healthcare, family life and the economy.

From the UK’s only department of Gerontology, to the internationally renowned Centre for Research on Ageing, and ESRC Connecting Generations research centre, BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 researchers are improving understanding of these impacts, and what adjustments might be needed to ensure a fair and thriving society for all ages.

In this issue you can read about Professor Maria Evandrou and Professor Jane Falkingham’s work on the impacts of caring responsibilities on people’s working lives, and Professor Athina Vlachantoni’s mission to understand unmet care needs among older people.

Attitudes to ageing in other cultures is explored in Dr Elisabeth Schroeder-Butterfill’s research into the care of older people in Indonesia, and Dr Dalia Tsimpida examines the link between hearing loss, chronic health conditions and socio-economic factors.

We also look at Professor Ruth Bartlett’s work on safeguarding the right of people with dementia to continue to participate in society. Research by Dr Sarah Lewthwaite and by Professor Yuanyuan Yin takes different approaches to ensuring that our increasingly digital world is accessible to older people.

Much of this research features interdisciplinary approaches to understanding and positively affecting ageing individuals and populations, with the ultimate intention of making a positive difference in society.
