Many of us at the University are interacting with students who are struggling with their mental health. In a national 2022 survey, by the mental health charity Student Minds, 57% of respondents self-reported a mental health issue and 27% said they had a diagnosed mental health condition. Additionally, 30% of students claimed their mental health had got worse since beginning their university studies.
The University has partnered with Solent Mind, Hampshire’s leading mental health charity, to provide student-facing staff with training co-designed to help support students struggling with mental health issues.?We want to ensure that staff feel confident about how best to support their students and are aware of where to signpost them when needed.
