What to look forward to during Welcome Week and beyond

Starting with Welcome Weekend on Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September, Welcome Week is a great opportunity to begin your academic year in style.

If you are joining us for the first time, there are plenty of exciting events to kick off your time at the University of BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载, meet like-minded people, and curate the best possible experience for yourself with activities you enjoy.

If you are coming back for another academic year, Welcome Week is your fresh start – whether you would like to try something new, meet new friends, or simply make memories for your personal highlight reel, there are many ways to enjoy yourself.

Welcome Zone & Union Saturday & Sunday – Saturday 20 and Sunday 21 September

Welcome Weekend is your opportunity to explore Highfield Campus, or see it once again at its very best. From 3D printing to crafts, cartoonists, as well as free ice cream, there are lots of activities available. If you are a new student and you have received your email that your ID card is ready to collect, you can do this in Building 37.

To add to the fun, SUSU will have roller disco, giant inflatables, lawn games, escape rooms, pool and darts, and much more for you to get stuck into.

Events from your Students’ Union

SUSU have a wide range of Freshers’ events, fairs, and parties to choose from. Highlights include:

  • Parties for a memorable start to the year: Big Freshers’ Party – Through the Decades, Stag’s Karaoke, Foam Party featuring Cheryl, Bingo Lingo
  • Fairs to help you get involved: Societies Fair, Sports and Academic Societies Fair, Student Life Fair, Freshers’ Fair, Nightlife Fair
Colour Fun Run – Friday 26 September

Taking place at the Wide Lane Sports Ground, the Colour Fun Run is a free and vibrant experience open to all students. You can run or walk the 3km course, getting more and more colourful on the way as staff members and student ambassadors throw colour.

ResLife events, campus tours, and much more

If you live in halls of residence, there are loads of events run by ResLife ambassadors to help you get to know your new neighbours and community. These include board game nights, halls mixers, and guided BOB体育登录网址_欧宝体育官网平台-APP|下载 tours. ?Welcome to Winchester Day – Friday 26 September

With free crafts, face painting, black out poetry, pop-up petals, giant bubbles, and much more, start your Winchester School of Art year right.

SUSU on Tour – WSA Freshers Fair, Wednesday 1 October

Get a taste of what Winchester has to offer at the mini-Freshers fair, packed with stalls from local companies, SUSU societies, and University services.

?WSA Fun Run – Wednesday 1 October

A relaxed, friendly 3km run for you to explore the River Park fields in an active way.

Please note: your calendar will also include your timetable once it becomes available. Make sure you check your timetable and your University email for your official course induction event if you are joining us for the first time – induction events normally take place during Welcome Week, before term starts on Monday 29 September.
