How to make your choices??

If you are eligible to select your modules using Online Option Choice, you will receive an email with step-by-step instructions from The Student Hub on Wednesday 5 November ahead of the system opening. If you would like to find out more before then, the Online Option Choice page includes answers to frequently asked questions, as well as a useful video taking you through the system so you are ready for the day it opens.?

How to explore your choices?

Modules are allocated on a first-come, first-served basis. As a result, before the system opens it is important to explore the choices available as part of your course to make sure you select the modules that are right for you and the next semester of your course.

The Programme and Module information page contains an overview of your programme of study and the modules you can take as part of each academic year – including the first year of your programme?– broken down into compulsory and optional modules. To help with your planning, the list of optional modules includes guidance on how many you can take in one semester.??

Clicking on each module title will take you to the module page, which may contain information to help you choose, including:??

  • An overview of the module and what you are expected to learn??
  • A summarised syllabus??
  • Teaching and learning methods, including the types of sessions you will have (e.g. lectures, seminars, labs)?
  • Assessment types and their contribution to the overall module mark?
  • The names of the academic staff leading the module?

If you would like to take a module in a subject that is outside of your main area of study, or learn a new language, the Customise your degree page has useful information on how you can tailor your degree with an interdisciplinary module.?

Once you have read this information, it might be useful for you to speak to your Personal Academic Tutor and/or the Module Leads to discuss the modules and how they might fit with your interests.??

Where to find support?

Here is an overview of where you can find help depending on your query:??

  • If you have any questions about the modules, contact your Personal Academic Tutor or the Module Leads.?
