Why public involvement is important
We are researching ways to improve the health and social care services on which we all depend. This includes finding new ways to deliver care, detect and treat conditions.
Patients, carers and the public are essential partners in the research that we do.
Hearing Public Contributor’s experiences and questions helps us focus on what really matters and make our research high quality, more relevant and impactful.
Being involved in research is open to all
Particularly people with:
- An interest in health research
- A desire to help improve health outcomes for others
- Time and enthusiasm to take part
Becky is a Public Contributor. She said: “I was told very early on that my experience is valuable and I deserve a seat at the table. This made me feel very welcome and supported, particularly in thinking about barriers that some people may face when accessing treatments. I have also learned a lot from being part of the research process.”
